Terms of Use
Last updated September 25, 2026
The short version: be 18 or older, be yourself, be kind, and meet people somewhere public. ATX Friends helps you find people. You're responsible for how you meet them.
Who can use ATX Friends
You must be at least 18 and live within about 50 miles of Austin, Texas. One account per person, and it has to be really you: your own name and your own photos.
How to treat people
- No harassment, threats, hate, or bullying.
- No sexual content. This is a friendship app, not a dating app.
- No spam, selling, or recruiting people into businesses or causes.
- No pretending to be someone else.
- No sharing someone's private information without their permission.
- Don't try to break, overload, or get around the app's safety features.
If someone breaks these rules, report or block them in the app. We can remove content or accounts that break them.
Meeting people
We don't run background checks and we can't vouch for anyone. For first meetups, pick a public place, tell a friend where you're going, and get yourself there and home on your own. If something feels off, leave. If you're in danger, call 911.
You're responsible for your own safety and your own conduct when you meet someone from ATX Friends.
Your content
You own what you post. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people the app is meant to show it to, only so we can run the app.
Beta
ATX Friends is in beta. Things may break, change, or go away. The app is provided as is, without promises that it will always work or be error-free.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, ATX Friends isn't liable for what happens between users, on the app or in person, or for indirect losses from using it.
Ending your account
You can delete your account anytime in the app (You → Privacy & Safety → Delete Account). We can suspend or remove accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.
The code and the name
The app's code is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, with an exception for app store distribution. See the code repository for details. The name “ATX Friends” is not part of that license. If you build your own app from the code, please give it your own name.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas.
Changes and contact
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app. Questions: gap512@protonmail.com or (512) 655-3940.
